University of Northampton
For the 21st century
Set apart
The University of Northampton had reached an interesting point. It was gaining popularity, but struggling to define itself against other universities. It needed a new brand to promote itself and meaningfully talk to prospective students.
Use newness as a strength
We worked with Martin Lambie-Nairn and Why Projects to define what makes the University unique. As a new university, it wasn’t weighed down by its past so could be positioned as a forward-looking university for the 21st century, that through quality teaching, enabled students to be whatever they wanted to be. The design centred on the boldness of the young institution: arresting 8 bit colours formed the basis of the brand, coupled with bold headlines and large format imagery. We also created a UoN icon to act as a stamp across social media.
